Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd commences bill discounting business in 1985. In February 2003, the bank received a banking license from RBI. With this, the bank became the first non-banking finance company in India which converts into a bank- Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (Kmb) Ltd. The bank is an Indian private sector bank headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The bank has a network of 1,369 branches across 689 locations and 2,163 ATMs in the country. In 2018, the bank ranked as the second largest private bank in India by market capitalization after HDFC bank. The bank has a chairman as Shankar Acharya and MD & CEO as Uday Kotak.

The bank offers a variety of financial products and services for corporate and retail customers through a network of delivery channels and specialized subsidiaries in the areas of general insurance, personal finance, investment banking, wealth management and life insurance. Loans on different categories such as- Personal loan, Home loan, Education loan, Mortgage loan, and other loans.

According to Brand Finance Banking 500, Published in February 2014 by Banker Magazine. Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited was ranked 245th among the world’s top 500 banks with a brand valuation of around half a billion dollars and brand rating of AA+.
